Demons
He stood motionless at the doorway, dimly lit by the desperate withering flicker of a nearby candle. The little room was a room of horrors. Bloodlust and Hatred sat side by side on their bloody thrones, voraciously eating away the corpse of his soul. They invited him to join them in this satanic feast, to help free himself of the unnecessary restrictions of his conscience reduced now to the battered remains of a fallen angel. The piercing shrillness of the sound produced by their gnawing at the angel’s brittle bones was too much for him to take. He closed the door and ran away, his mind full of horrid images. He was one of them but he couldn’t accept it. He didn’t want to so he ran on until a vast lake came in front of him. Paranoia had overtaken him. He felt as though he was chased by fierce hounds, he thought he was going to be put on trial by some supreme force, omnipresent and ironclad. So, he started wading through the icy water, slowly but surely penetrating it towards his doom. Very soon he reached a deeper spot where his feet no longer reached the bottom. He couldn’t swim. The icy water engulfed him, he sank into the abyss of his tortured self and drowned in the mess he himself had stirred. He died inside himself and thus the last ray of hope disappeared and was replaced by thick black smog, a dark profound gloom brooding over the reaches of his self. They were in charge now, the ones who had offered him the savage meal, the ones with whom he had made a contract bound in blood. He was no longer sane, no longer himself, but a pawn at the hands of the devil himself, who grinning somewhere in the depths of hell had devised a violent plan…
